Sometimes, while I am making dinner or trying to think of something to write about, I forget if I have blogged about the particular dinner I am making (or going to make that night). So, because I am lazy and because I think it would be convenient for the readers, too, I am compiling all of my Five Dollar Dinners on one post. I will regularly update this post as I add more dinners. And I have a lot more to add. (Thirty!)
In case you are late to the game, Five Dollar Dinners are dinners I make at home for us three Joneses that cost less than five dollars to make. Entirely. Not five dollars per serving or per person. Five dollars to make the whole meal. And that's five dollars from the grocery store in Hawaii, which has the highest grocery costs in the nation. So, I know, that my dinners will cost less in your neck of the woods.
Here are my Five Dollar Dinners:
Beef Stew
Broccoli Sausage
Fried Chicken and Deviled Eggs
Hamburger Macaroni
Manicotti
Mushroom and Spinach Calzones
Pizza
Spaghetti
Spicy Bean Burritos
Steak Kabobs and Onions
Turkey and Dressing
These are recipes that are not dinners, but things you need to know how to do to make the dinners so cheap:
Cheese Sauce
Cream of Chicken
If you have any recipes that are cheap to make (and delicious! don't forget delicious!), then please share in the comments!
Looking forward to reading more $5 dinners. Making meals on a budget can sometimes be very difficult!
ReplyDeleteIt sure can! It helps to have as much free time as I do, but I feel that as I am not "working" this is my way of providing income, by saving income. This week we are trying new recipes, which is always difficult as I don't know if I am making something inedible and a total waste. Fortunately, my husband and baby will eat just about anything :D Thanks for the comment.
